As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The doors of Sadaqah (باب الصدقة) are reserved for those servants of Allah who spend in charity solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala. They will have the honor to enter through these doors. See the following Hadith:

Translation: Abu Hurairah (Radiyallahu Anhu) say that: “I heard the Messenger of Allah say” ‘Whoever spends on a pair of things in the cause of Allah, he will be called from the gates of Paradise: Oh slave of Allah, this is good for you. Paradise had (several) gates. Whoever is one of the people of Salah, he will be called from the gate of prayer. Whoever is one of the people of Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad. Whoever is one of the people of charity will be called from the gate of charity. And whoever is one of the people of fasting will be called from the gate of Ar-Rayyan.” Abu Bakr said: “Is there any need for anyone to be called from all of these gates? Will anyone be called from all of them, Oh Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Yes, and I hope that you will be among them.” (Sahih Al Bukhari-1897)[1]

Giving Sadaqah in secrecy is superior to giving Sadaqah openly. See the following:

Allah Ta’ala says:

If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds. And Allah is aware of what you do. (Al Baqarah -271)

Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu Anhu) narrated that The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Seven (people) will be shaded by Allah by His Shade on the Day of Resurrection when there will be no shade except His Shade. (They will be), a just ruler, a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, a man who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears, a man whose heart is attached to the Masjid, two men who love each other for the sake of Allah, a man who is called by a charming lady of noble birth to commit Haram relations with her, and he says, ‘I fear Allah,’ and, a man who gives in charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given.”

However, there are times when there is a need to give Sadaqah openly in order to encourage others such as family, friends and relatives to spend in the path of Allah. In such circumstances, it is better to give openly.

You may refer to Fazaail -e- Sadaqah by Hadhrat Moulana Muhammad Zakariyyah Khaandhlawi (Rahimahullah) for further information regarding the virtues of Sadaqah.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

When a near and dear one passes away, it is natural to grieve at the loss of such a person. However, as Muslims, we believe we could still connect with our near and dear ones. Shariah has created an avenue for us to maintain and express our love for the deceased through Isaal-e-Thawaab.[1]

Isaal-e-Thawaab is to perform a virtuous act, for example, perform Nafl Salah, recite Quran, make Zikr or give Sadaqah, and pass the reward of the virtuous act to the deceased.[2]

The deceased receive the rewards of such acts from their near and dear ones and benefit tremendously. Hereunder are some ways to connect with the deceased and make Isaal-e-Thawaaab for the deceased.

Charity on Behalf of the Deceased:

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) advised the Sahabah (Radhiyallahu Anhum) to give charity on behalf of the deceased. See the following hadith:

Translation: On one occasion, when the mother of Sa’d bin Ubadah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) passed away in his absence, he said: “O Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). My mother passed away in my absence; will it be of any benefit for her if I give Sadaqah on her behalf?” The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Yes,” Sa’d (Radhiyallahu Anhu) said, “I make you a witness that I gave my garden called, Al Makhraf in charity on her behalf.”[3] (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 2756)

Acts of Worship on Behalf of the Deceased:

Sending the reward of other virtuous actions such as recitation of the Quran, fasting, Hajj, etc. have also been proven through numerous Ahadith:

Translation: Narrated ‘Amr bin Suh’aib: On his father’s authority, said that his grandfather told that Al-‘As ibn Wa’il left his will that a hundred slaves should be emancipated on his behalf. His son Hisham emancipated fifty slaves and his son Amr intended to emancipate the remaining fifty on his behalf, but he said: I should ask first the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). He, therefore, came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said: Messenger of Allah, my father left in his will that a hundred slaves should be emancipated on his behalf and Hisham has emancipated fifty on his behalf and fifty remain. Shall I emancipate them on his behalf? The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Had he been a Muslim and you had emancipated slaves on his behalf, or given Sadaqah on his behalf, or performed the pilgrimage, that would have reached him(Sunan Abi Dawood:2883)

Translation: ‏ Abdullah bin Buraida (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reported on the authority of his father: When we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), a woman came to him and said: I had gifted to my mother a maid-servant, and now she (the mother) has died. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: There is a definite reward for you and she (the maid-servant) has been returned to you as an inheritance. She (that woman) again said: Fasts of a month (of Ramadan) are due upon her; should I observe them on her behalf? He (the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Observe fasts on her behalf. She (again) said: She did not perform Hajj, should I perform it on her behalf? He (the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Perform Hajj on her behalf. (Sahih Muslim:1149)

Funding Religious Projects on Behalf of the Deceased:

An ongoing source of Sadaqah Jaariyah and reward for the deceased may also be achieved by building and financing such projects that will continuously benefit the Muslim community such as: building Masajid, digging wells etc. This can be understood from the following Ahadith:

Translation: It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) said: “The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: ‘The rewards of the good deeds that will reach a believer after his death are: Knowledge which he taught and spread; a righteous son whom he leaves behind; a copy of the Qur’an that he leaves as a legacy; a mosque that he built; a house that he built for wayfarers; a canal that he dug; or charity that he gave during his lifetime when he was in good health. These deeds will reach him after his death.” (Sunan Ibn Majah:242)

Translation: Narrated Sa’d ibn Ubadah (Radhiyallahu Anhu): Sa’d asked: Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), Umm Sa’d (Radhiyallahu Anha) has died; what form of Sadaqah is best? He replied: Water (is best). He dug a well and said: It is for Umm Sa’d (Radhiyallahu Anhu).

(Sunan Abi Dawood:1681)

Du’a and Istighfaar on Behalf of the Deceased:

Making Du’a and Istighfaar for the deceased is also very beneficial. The Quran itself orders us to seek forgiveness for the believers that came before us:

Translation: “And those who came after them say: ‘Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful.” (Surah Al-Hashr:10)

Translation: Abu Hurairah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Verily, Allah Ta’ala shall elevate the grade of a righteous servant in Paradise, who will ask, ‘O Lord! How did I earn this?’ Allah Ta’ala will reply, ‘Through your son’s Istighfaar for you.”

(Musnad Ahmed:10610)

True love for near and dear ones is to benefit the beloved when he/she needs it the most, after death when in the Qabr. If we make Isaal-e-Thawaab for others and teach our children and family to make Isaal-e-Thawaab, they will make Isaal-e-Thawaab for us when we leave the world.

Translation: Abu Huraira (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reported Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased). (Sahih Muslim:1631)

HOT MEAL FEEDING PROGRAMS MALAWI

$280 FEEDS 100 POOR AND NEEDY PEOPLE

One Humanity Foundation established under the auspices of Mufti Ebrahim Desai is giving you the opportunity to conduct your own feeding programs in Malawi.

For just $280 you can reap the rewards of reaching out and feeding 100 poor and needy people in rural Malawi.

The meal includes drinks, a delicious chicken and rice dish, and sweets for the children.

One Humanity Foundation carries out various hot meal programs across poor and rural areas of Malawi. Our hot meal programs aim to ensure that  families who have little or nothing to survive on are able to enjoy a fresh and nutritious meal. We aim to ensure the meals also reach widows, orphan families, elderly and the vulnerable in the community.

Sponsor a hot meal feeding program with the intention of Esaale Thawaab for a deceased loved one.

Our programs are supervised personally by our personnel and Ulama on the ground in Malawi.

The Story of Umm Abid https://one-humanity.net/2022/02/04/ummabid/ Fri, 04 Feb 2022 06:53:46 +0000 http://demo.zozothemes.com/charety/post-5-copy/

This is the home of sister Umm Abid. Her father was killed infront of the family. Her husband was abducted and has been in prison with no whereabouts until today. She lives alone in this simple home barely able to fend for herself and her two small children.

This is the extremely difficult and sad situation of the widows of the Ummah.

For just R1,500 a month you can support families like this to sustain themselves.

Please donate and help ease the difficulties of the less fortunate of the Ummah.

TYPES OF DONATIONS ACCEPTED:

LILLAH | ZAKAT | SADAQAH

Changing Lives in Malawi https://one-humanity.net/2022/02/04/livestock/ Fri, 04 Feb 2022 06:53:04 +0000 http://demo.zozothemes.com/charety/post-1-copy/

Our empowerment programs are an on-going effort to raise awareness in rural communities on how individuals can discover their own potential to achieve self-sufficient living.

These cows were purchased for the Shaykhs of the village. The milk produced from the cows is used by the family and sold to earn an income income. The cows are milked daily and the milk is taken to the local dairy at the village market where it is dropped of. The dairy then calculates the litres of milk received and the Shaykh is paid for it.

The income raised through this will help the families to sustain themselves. Contact us if you would like to be part of this project.

Masjid Saeed ibn Zayd https://one-humanity.net/2022/02/04/masjid/ https://one-humanity.net/2022/02/04/masjid/#respond Fri, 04 Feb 2022 06:02:33 +0000 http://demo.zozothemes.com/import/uploads-temp/charety/2020/04/21/start-training-with-our-professional-instructors-copy/

One Humanity’s newest Masjid in Malawi – Masjid Saeed ibn Zayd – named after the great companion of the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam, Saeed ibn Zayd (Radhiyallahu anhu). The Masjid was named and the Foundation was personally laid by our beloved Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Rahimahullah) in November 2020 . The Masjid was thereafter officially opened in October 2021 by the Ulama and personnel of One Humanity on the ground in Malawi.

This Masjid is located deep in a remote village and is the only Masjid in its area which also serves more than four villages. One Humanity has installed an Alim of its choice as the Imam not only for the Masjid but also leading and serving the community. Dawah programmes, a Maktab, and women’s Halaqah also take place at all our Masajid. Our personnel and Ulama team personally supervise all projects and programmes.

May Allah make this a continuous sadaqah jariyah for the donor and for our beloved Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Rahimahullah). Aameen!
